Diego Pacheco vs. Immanuwel Aleem fight recap

Diego Pacheco (26-0, 19 KOs) was dominant in his eleventh round technical knockout victory over Immanuwel Aleem (22-5-3, 14 KOs).

The official time of stoppage was 2:32. Pacheco remains unbeaten with the win and on the path towards a world title at super middleweight. WBA champion Jaime Munguía was discussed in the post-fight interview, but whether that clash materializes remains to be seen.

Pacheco began the fight boxing off of the back foot. It allowed him to keep Aleem at a distance and land the more eye-catching shots to the head. The jab was a constant for Pacheco and it prevented his opponent from closing the distance.

Aleem struggled to land punches of substance throughout the fight, even when Pacheco opened himself up at the end of round five to stand and trade. The pair fought on the inside in round seven. It was here that Aleem finally had some success, landing a couple of clean hooks to the head. Towards the end of the seventh, however, he was rocked by a right uppercut and was on shaky legs until the end of the round.

The second half of the fight saw Pacheco focus on hitting the body. Aleem proved to be incredibly resilient. Pacheco put a beating on him in the tenth, but he somehow stayed standing to fight another round. Despite this, the end was near for Aleem.

Pacheco landed an overhand right that sent his opponent down in round 11. Although Aleem got up, he was knocked down again by a series of shots to the head. It caused referee Ray Corona to step in and put an immediate end to proceedings.
