Stephanie Han holding WBA lightweight title

Stephanie Han (12-0, 3 KOs) will soon put her WBA lightweight world title on the line against Holly Holm (34-3-3, 9 KOs) in a rematch.

Their bout headlines a Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) card at the County Coliseum in El Paso, TX. Fight fans in the United States can catch the action live on ESPN. Both women faced each other earlier this year in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Han emerged victorious via technical decision after a cut sustained by her put an end to proceedings.

Both women spoke at a press conference ahead of their May 30 contest. Below is some of what they had to say.

Stephanie Han vs. Holly Holm 2 press conference quotes

Stephanie Han

“I know that Holly took this loss personally,” said Han. “I know that she’s a competitor. I know that she’s going to bring it. I know that she’s ready. She looks absolutely amazing.”

“I give 100% every fight camp, so I’m ready.”

Holly Holm

“I’m a very self-reflective fighter,” said Holm. “I feel like the more you dig deep and self-reflect on the things you need to do, the better you’re going to become. I’ve made changes and improved also on things I didn’t perform well in the first. I didn’t like not having the rest of the fight, but it shouldn’t have mattered. I should have been doing better from round one, so you’ll see a different me.”

“I’m fighting a strong champion, a very smart fighter, a very technical fighter, and I have all the respect for her.”

Fight Prediction

Han was in complete control for just about the entirety of the first bout against Holm. “The Preacher’s Daughter” did what she could, but it was simply not enough to get the upper hand. It is hard to see what Holm could do differently that would allow her to defeat Han. The reigning champion should have no trouble replicating her success. Expect a unanimous decision win for Han on Saturday.
