Adam Azim ready to ‘do a better job’ than Teofimo Lopez
On May 30, Adam Azim returns to action, headlining the latest BOXXER fight card at the Wembley Arena, Wembley, against Canadian Steve Claggett in a super lightweight contest. It will be his first fight in 2026, and one where the talented 24-year-old will be eager to make an impression and move on to bigger fights in the remainder of 2026 and beyond. Speaking to The Ring about his first fight in 2026, Azim made it clear he’s ready to make an impression and perform better than Teofimo Lopez against Claggett.
Adam Azim ready to face Steve Claggett on May 30
Speaking to The Ring about facing Claggett, Azim said: “Everyone knows Steve Claggett and he has been at world level before like in that Teofimo fight.”
“He gave Lopez a good fight that night so I just have to make sure I do a better job on him and that will speak for itself.”
Revealing his target for the rest of the year, after enduring frustrations in early 2026, Azim said:
“I could become world champion this year, hopefully that’s the case. It would mean I’d be a world champion at 24 after 16 fights which would be an incredible achievement. It’s a fast pace to be going at.
“(But) Lemos pulled out first and then I had to pull out because I had an injury as well. It was quite upsetting because it would have put me in position at No. 2 and I think Lemos would have been a great fight.
“We will see if it’s something we rekindle but it might not happen because after this fight I want to be fighting for a world title.”
