Charlie Edwards vs. Sikho Nqothole press conference quotes
Charlie Edwards
“He’s a good fighter,” said Edwards. “I can’t sit here and slander him. He’s had some good wins and he’s got his danger bits about him. I can respect that. He’s been in the amateur boxing scene. He’s traveled the world. He’s experienced, but listen. You don’t get into the top 10 without being a good fighter. So I’m looking forward to the challenge. I see what he does very well. I see what he does bad. It’s just my duty to expose that.”
“Everything that I’ve been through, from being world champion at 25 years old and coming through all the adversity, [I] keep putting my 120 per cent into this game. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going and all that shabaz. I’ve answered tests. I’ve been there. I’ve done it. I’ve felt heartache. I’ve battled through it and like I said, Friday night God’s plan it all comes into action and I look forward to doing the business.”
Sikho Nqothole
“I just want to thank him [for taking] the fight,” said Nqothole. “[I] appreciate he bring me to his country. Definitely going to give him a good fight as I promised myself and I promised my country. I promised my family to win the fight.”
“I can say that [he’s overlooking me], but it’s up to him. Me, I just have to focus on him and the rest will just happen after him.”
Fight prediction
From Big Fight Weekend’s Ricky Carroll: Edwards has operated at a high level. His slick footwork enables him to move in and out of danger effortlessly. While not a big puncher, he picks his punches impressively. He has endured tough moments in and outside the ring, but seems to be in a good place now. We are backing Edwards’ impressive footwork and general ring IQ to be too much for Nqothole.
