Xander Zayas makes bold five-point claim ahead of Boots Ennis fight

On June 27, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Xander Zayas vs Jaron Ennis will headline a Matchroom Boxing in association with Top Rank fight card, with Zayas’ WBO/WBA super welterweight title on the line. The entire card will stream live and exclusively on DAZN PPV. Ahead of fight night, Zayas spoke to a press huddle after the launch press conference for his showdown against “Boots,” revealing five key skills he believes will help him win.

Xander Zayas set to face Jaron Ennis on June 27

Zayas will defend his WBO and WBA super welterweight titles against Ennis in Brooklyn. Zayas (23-0, 13 KOs) unified the division in January, producing an impressive performance to defeat Abass Baraou by split decision. This win put him at the top of the division, backing up his win over Jorge Garcia Perez to become the WBO champ.

Ennis (35-0, 31 KOs) will enter the history books as a two-weight world champion should he defeat Zayas. Ennis was largely untroubled at welterweight, with his best win involving a beatdown of Eimantas Stanionis to add the WBA strap to his IBF crown, before deciding to move up to 154 pounds.

It remains to be seen if Zayas can produce a career-best performance. If Ennis becomes a two-weight champion, it will seemingly secure his place as one of the most elite fighters on the planet.

Zayas outlines five key advantages over Ennis

Speaking in a media huddle at the launch press conference for his bout with Ennis, Zayas exuded confidence, revealing five key advantages he believes he has over “Boots.”

“There’s a lot of things I can take advantage of. I got the speed, I got the power, I got the length, I got the strength and I got the IQ!”
