Sebastian Fundora vs. Keith Thurman press conference quotes and fight prediction

Sebastian Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) will soon defend his WBC super welterweight world title against Keith Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs, 1 NC).

Their bout headlines a Premier Boxing Champions card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Fight fans in the United States can catch the action live as a pay-per-view (PPV) with Prime Video and PPV.com.

Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their March 28 clash. Below is some of what they had to say.

Sebastian Fundora vs. Keith Thurman press conference quotes

Sebastian Fundora

“We’re gonna have a great night on Saturday,” said Fundora. “Expect ‘The Towering Inferno’ to burn Las Vegas down once again.”

“I definitely don’t see this going 12 rounds, but no matter how long it goes, it ends with me having my hand raised.”

“Thurman is a good talker. He likes to talk. That’s how he is. He’s a great champion as well, but Saturday night I’m planning to crash his party.”

Keith Thurman

“It’s been a beautiful build up to this fight,” said Thurman. “It’s been a long time coming. I’m facing a great champion and we’re gonna make it happen.”

“I’m here to hurt this boy. I’m trying to send him home beltless. Fundora gets hit. He’s used to trading and going at it. But I’m here to put that fire out.”

“I’ve been doing this for a long time. Come March 28 you’re gonna see why I’ve been able to do this as long as I have.”

Fight prediction

From Big Fight Weekend’s Ricky Carroll: Question marks are attached to both despite their excellent records. Fundora can be hurt, and Thurman is as savvy as they come. Thurman’s inactivity could have a huge impact on the outcome of this fight. Writing this, I believe a prime Thurman stops Fundora, but “The Towering Inferno” has freshness and activity on his side, and that will be enough for him to win a competitive unanimous decision.
