Isaac Cruz vs. Lamont Roach press conference quotes and fight prediction
Isaac Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KOs) and Lamont Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) will soon face each other in a 12-round super lightweight bout.
Their clash headlines a Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) card at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, TX. Fight fans in the United States and select countries can catch the action live as a pay-per-view (PPV) on Prime Video. Alternatively, it can also be purchased through PPV.com which is available everywhere.
Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their Dec. 6 contest. Below is some of what they had to say.
Isaac Cruz vs. Lamont Roach press conference quotes
Isaac Cruz
“I’m here in San Antonio ready to go,” said Cruz through an interpreter. “I can’t wait for the first bell to ring Saturday night.”
“He’s in trouble too. He might have his hands tied. It’s gonna be a great night, we’re gonna make sure of it.”
“I could have never imagined five years ago when I was fighting in San Antonio that I’d be here now, but this is the fruits of my hard work. I want to keep progressing and evolving and doing big things.”
Lamont Roach
“I’m just excited to show off my skills,” said Roach. “Nothing’s changed. We’re here to boogie. Let’s go Saturday night.”
“I pride myself on how I came along in this professional journey. We all worked hard and we all got up to this stage.”
“Everybody knows I like to throw. There’s gonna be some moments where the cameras better be ready. He’s throwing missiles in there and I’m gonna throw them back.”
Fight prediction
Between the two, Cruz has more experience fighting at 135 lbs and above. However, Roach is the more technically savvy. Although this will be his first time at super lightweight, he should have the ability to outwork Cruz over 12 rounds. Expect a unanimous decision victory for Roach in his first foray at a new weight class.
