Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul — Carl Froch delivers surprising praise

On December 19, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul will headline a Most Valuable Promotions card, live on Netflix for all subscribers.

As we build up to this highly anticipated fight, many in the boxing world have shared their opinion, positive and negative. Carl Froch has never shied away from criticising both and speaking via his Froch on Fighting, he had some surprising credit to deliver.

Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul rules for December 19 in Miami

  • The fight is scheduled for eight 3-minute rounds.
  • It is a sanctioned professional bout.
  • Paul and Joshua will wear 10-ounce gloves.
  • The only stipulation is that Joshua cannot weigh more than 245 pounds.

Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul — Carl Froch delivers credit

Addressing the Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul bout on his Froch on Fighting channel: “Does Jake Paul deserve credit? I never thought I’d say this, but yes, Fake Paul deserves a bit of credit because he’s jumping in there with somebody that could potentially render him unconscious. I think quite easily as well.”

“I mean, to put yourself in harm’s way in front of an ex-world champion. AJ was fighting for a world title over a year ago. Okay, he’s not been in the ring for over a year. His last fight he got splattered himself, but it wasn’t long before that that he was tiptoeing around at world class.

“He’s been in there with Usyk twice, alright, he lost. He’s had that loss to Ruiz, and then he got flattened by Daniel Dubois. So there are his four losses, but he’s still mixing. He went 24 rounds with Usyk and never got stopped. Oleksandr Usyk is one of the best to ever do it. So let’s give AJ credit where credit is due. He’s a two-time world heavyweight champion. He’s talking about becoming a three-time champ.

“Because people believe he’s got a chance to become a three-time heavyweight champ. Eddie Hearn certainly does. I think Fake Paul deserves credit because he’s jumping in with a guy that’s very, very dangerous for them little 10oz gloves as well,” said Froch.
