Three potential options for Gervonta Davis after Jake Paul

On November 14, Gervonta Davis vs Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) will headline a Most Valuable Promotions fight card at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, live on Netflix for all subscribers.

The confirmation of this 10-round exhibition has drawn considerable criticism, despite an impressive undercard with four world title fights. Davis has hinted at retirement at different points in his career, but Big Fight Weekend looks at three potential options for Tank Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs).

Gervonta Davis’ next moves: three potential options

Shakur Stevenson

The one matchup many fight fans would love to see is Gervonta Davis vs Shakur Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs).

Stevenson has often spoken positively about facing Davis, making it clear he wants to face the WBA lightweight champion. The speed and explosiveness of Davis against the defensive mastery of Stevenson would be a pugilistic work of art.

I think we have a better chance of seeing Stevenson vs. Lamont Roach Jr. than we do of seeing Stevenson vs Davis. But we can dream and hope for good things.

Lamont Roach

Lamont Roach Jr (25-1-2, 10 KOs) vs Davis 2 was heavily rumoured and seemed likely after the controversy surrounding their first fight. The decision by Davis to fight Jake Paul in the upcoming exhibition was met by widespread derision.

Recently, Roach discussed Paul’s decision when speaking to Fight Hub TV:

“Don’t duck a fight with me and fight a YouTuber that’s 200 pounds and think it’s okay. It’s not okay. Unless you took the proper steps to boost it, you could have told me.”

With Roach moving up in weight to face Isaac Cruz on December 6, and Tank possibly retiring, the Roach–Davis rematch looks further away than ever, but who would have had Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis on their 2025 boxing bingo card?

Retirement

Unfortunately, retirement now appears to be the most likely path for Tank. His decision to face Paul feels like a final, lucrative payday before stepping away — leaving the Roach rematch and a potential blockbuster with Stevenson on the table.

Davis has fuelled retirement talk in recent months, responding to fans on social media and hinting that the end might be near. If he does choose to walk away, boxing will lose one of its brightest talents — but if the hunger is gone, stepping back might be exactly what Davis needs.
