Eddie Hearn provides fascinating insight into his relationship with Turki Alalshikh

The boxing world endured a mixed weekend with the highs of the Canelo vs Crawford superfight, followed by the devastating low of Ricky Hatton’s death. Last week in the boxing world felt like a wild rollercoaster, and Eddie Hearn appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show, providing a fascinating insight into his relationship with Turki Alalshikh and who deserves credit for Canelo-Crawford.

Eddie Hearn discusses Canelo vs Crawford and credits Turki Alalshikh

On September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) created history in becoming a three-division undisputed champion and four-division lineal champion, defeating Canelo Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) by unanimous decision with cards of 116-112 and 115-113 (x2).

When appearing on the Ariel Helwani Show, Hearn reflected on Dana White taking credit for Canelo vs Crawford:

“Without Turki Alalshikh, Canelo x Crawford never would have happened. In fact, it wouldn’t have even been a fight that Dana White would have considered or thought of making.

“Let’s give the credit of Canelo x  Crawford to Turki Alalshikh, the man that truly paid up for the fight, the man that truly had the vision for two generational greats to me in a ring. I didn’t believe that fight could get made.”

Hearn reflects on Alalshikh relationship

Discussing the relationship between Turki and Dana, while offering a fascinating insight on working with Alalshikh, Hearn said:

“Working with Turki Alalshikh is a wild ride… I’m just being straight, he doesn’t really allow you to do what you want to do. He does what he wants to do and you follow.

“Your advice mainly falls on deaf ears. He’s a very smart guy, and there’s a method to the madness. I think they’re gonna clash, but money’s money, isn’t it? It depends if you’re prepared to keep your mouth quiet and do as you’re told. I am. Are they? That’s the difference for me.”
