Elise Soto vs. Colleen Davis 2 Recap
Elise Soto (8-0, 7 KOs, 1 NC) prevailed via split decision in a high-octane bout against Collen Davis (4-3-1, 1 KO, 1 NC).
While one judge had it 39-37 for Davis, the other two saw it 39-37 for Soto. The pair had previously fought each other earlier this year in May. That fight ended in a no contest after two rounds of action due to a cut on Davis. This bout was scheduled for four three-minute rounds (women generally box two-minute rounds).
From the opening bell both women threw punches at a furious pace. While Davis was initially throwing at a higher volume, Soto’s shots were harder. The Puerto Rican pursued her opponent around the ring in order to close the distance and land her swinging shots. Davis threw plenty of punches while on the back foot but had to trade on the inside at times when she got stuck against the ropes. By the end of round three she was sporting a cut over her left eyebrow.
Soto consistently pushed her opponent back while also landing the harder punches. In the end, it was enough to convince two of the judges that she won the fight.
Krystal Rosado-Ortiz vs. Agustina Vázquez Recap
Krystal Rosado-Ortiz (7-0, 2 KOs) put in a dominant performance against Agustina Vázquez (4-4-2, 0 KOs) to win via unanimous decision.
Scores were 40-36 across the board. The pair fought four three-minute rounds. Rosado generally competes at super flyweight while Vázquez fights at minimumweight. This fight took place at bantamweight.
Rosado began the fight aggressively, immediately letting her hands go at Vázquez. However, she did not spend the entire fight simply throwing punches nonstop. Rosado picked which moments she threw her flurries, backing up her opponent who struggled with the output. From time to time Vázquez was able to land some of her own shots, but they had little impact. In the end, Rosado won a clear unanimous decision thanks to her greater activity.
