Julio Cesar Chavez Sr Sends Brutal Warning to Jake Paul
On June 28 at Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, Jake Paul vs Chavez Jr will headline a Most Valuable Promotions event in association with CELSIUS Live Fit Essential Energy and Golden Boy Promotions. The co-main event will see Golden Boy’s WBO & WBA unified cruiserweight champion Gilberto Ramirez face the former IBF & WBA cruiserweight world champion and the current WBA mandatory challenger Yuniel Dorticós. Ahead of this intriguing event, all involved in both fights met at a press conference in Los Angeles, where Julio Cesar Chavez Sr had a brutal warning for “El Gallo.”

Jake Paul vs Chavez Jr: Sr Issues Brutal Warning to ‘El Gallo’
Jake Paul vs Chavez Jr will air on DAZN PPV with the co-main event featuring Gilberto Ramirez and Yuniel Dorticos. Chavez has competed at the highest level against the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Sergio Martinez and Andy Lee. However, issues outside the ring have stalled his career—he’s fought just once since 2021, a forgettable win over Uriah Hall.
This will be Paul’s first fight since defeating Mike Tyson on Netflix last year. When analysing this matchup, the question becomes: what does Chavez have left? The two share a common opponent in Anderson Silva—Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) won comfortably, while Chavez Jr (54-6-1, 34 KOs) dropped a split decision.
At the press conference, Chavez Sr was asked what he sees differently from his son coming into this fight: “I’ve never seen him train like this, he’s very focused. With all due respect to Jake Paul, there is no way that Jake Paul can beat my son.”
When asked how he sees the fight ending on June 28, he said: “All fights are difficult. Jake Paul is young and strong, but he’s never faced a fighter like my son. I would’ve given Mike Tyson a better fight. He didn’t throw one punch the whole fight. This time is different. This time, he’s going to get fucked up.”
