Queensberry Promotions Unveil Former Undisputed Champion as Latest Signing
Josh Taylor (19-2, 13 KOs) excelled in the super lightweight division, becoming Britain’s first undisputed world champion in the four-belt era, defeating Jose Carlos Ramirez by unanimous decision (114-112 x3). Following that win, the Scot has struggled, losing two out of his last three fights. Since his defeat in the Jack Catterall rematch, it has been unclear what “The Tartan Tornado” will do next. It appears the fire of desire still burns bright in Taylor, and he has inked a deal with Queensberry Promotions and will return to action in May in Glasgow against former British champion Ekow Essuman (21-1, 8KOs).

Frank Warren was full of excitement regarding the Josh Taylor signing and his fight announcement:“I am also so much looking forward to returning to Scotland with the nation’s biggest star and our latest signing, Josh Taylor, headlining and rebooting his career at welterweight, where I believe he can again do big things, but he will be up against it with Ekow Essuman in the opposite corner.”

Taylor-Essuman will headline the “Land of the Brave” card, with the date and venue yet to be confirmed after its announcement on social media earlier today. Taylor’s May return will also feature unbeaten southpaw Nathaniel Collins (15-0, 7 KOs) facing former European bantamweight champion Lee McGregor (15-1-1, 11KOs). Meanwhile, heavy-handed cruiserweight Aloys Junior (9-1, 8 KOs) will take on David Jamieson (13-3, 10 KOs) as he looks to extend his unbeaten record and continue his rapid rise in the division.
Queensberry and DAZN
It was announced towards the end of 2024 that Queensberry Promotions was embarking on a new broadcast deal with DAZN, with this landmark deal set to begin in April 2025. On April 5, it was announced today that Dillian Whyte (31-3, 28KOs) will face Joe Joyce (16-3, 15KOs) at the Co-op Live in Manchester.
In the co-main event to Whyte-Joyce, we will see Lawrence Okolie (21-1, 16KOs) face Richard Riakporhe (17-1, 13KOs), who will be moving up from cruiserweight. The heavyweight lineup will be completed by David Adeleye (13-1, 12KOs) facing Jeamie “TKV” Tshikeva (8-1, 5KOs), and Olympian Delicious Orie making his professional debut.
Queensberry also confirmed at the launch press conference that they will promote a show at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on Saturday, May 10, with Anthony Cacace (23-1, 8KOs) defending his IBO super featherweight world championship against local hero Leigh Wood (28-3, 17KOs), while the exciting, unbeaten light heavyweight prospect Ezra Taylor will also appear on that card.
Frank Warren Reacts to Fight Announcements
These intriguing events will be broadcast exclusively on DAZN, with Frank Warren reflecting on these three cards starting their historic partnership with DAZN: “We’ve assembled a bumper lineup of cracking fights to celebrate the start of our relationship with DAZN.”
Frank Warren added: “We are starting as we mean to go on and, as you might expect, the heavyweights will play a big, big part in 2025 and beyond. Then Nottingham is the place to be the following month for a real banger of a fight between Anto Cacace and Leigh Wood. It is the sort of domestic blockbuster we will be seeing plenty of across the partnership between Queensberry and DAZN.”
