Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford – The Ring Magazine recently reported that an agreement is in place for a mega fight this September in Las Vegas between WBA super welterweight champion Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) and super middleweight king Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs). Frank Warren Shares Insights on Potential Canelo vs Crawford Fight

Speculation has been rife that the fight will take place on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium, the home of the college football team, UNLV Rebels, who are due to play Idaho State on that date at the Allegiant stadium.

It remains to be seen what date Canelo-Crawford will take place on if confirmed, but at this time, the schedule of UNLV is still showing the home fixture vs. Idaho.

When asked by Ariel Hewani his reaction to the rumours that Canelo vs. Crawford is a done deal: “Look if it’s done, as a boxing fan I cant wait to see that fight, it’s a fabulous fight, said Frank Warren.

“If anyone can get it done, His Excellency is the man, and he’s been a massive fan of both of those guys.”

The Queensberry founder added: “I’m pretty positive it will happen and fingers crossed they get that over the line.”

Interim Fights Before Canelo vs Crawford

Should this mega-fight be confirmed, many will ask, should both take interim fights before the September bout? Canelo has been linked with a fight against Jake Paul, while Crawford is known to only fight once a year so an interim bout for “Bud” is unlikely.

Alvarez vs. IBF champion William Scull would be an interesting interim bout that would give the Mexican the chance to become undisputed again. A win would ensure he goes into the mega-fight against Crawford as the undisputed champion, adding more intrigue to this fascinating fight should it be made.
