‘Enforce That Mandatory Immediately’: Feared Heavyweight Targets Winner of Dubois vs. Parker

Martin Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs) is one of the most feared fighters on the planet, who was last seen destroying America’s great heavyweight hope, Jared Anderson. Since that win, many have called for Bakole to be given a world title shot, and the Congo-born fighter looks set to return against Efe Ajagba in May, as the IBF has ordered Bakole vs Ajagba as the final eliminator for Daniel Dubois’ IBF crown. The heavyweight bout is slated for the same card as the Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia comebacks bill. Ahead of his next fight, promoter Ben Shalom has revealed the plans for Martin Makabu Bakole.

Daniel Dubois is the current IBF champion and will face Joseph Parker on the loaded Feb. 22 card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The winner of that could be in line to face Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight crown, but it appears Bakole will enforce the mandatory if he defeats Ajagba on the first-ever fight card from The Ring Magazine in the U.S.

Ben Shalom Reveals Latest Martin Bakole Plans

As Bakole prepares for his next fight, his promoter Ben Shalom has revealed the plans for his potential world title shot.

“Martin can’t be avoided any longer. If he beats Efe Ajagba in May, he will be mandatory challenger to fight for the IBF world title, and we will be looking to enforce that mandatory immediately. He will be front of the queue and that fight will have to happen,” said Shalom, when speaking to Sky Sports.
