Ryan Garcia Next Fight: Tokyo Exhibition Details Confirmed for Dec. 30
The future of Ryan Garcia is far from certain with the talented but clearly troubled “Kingry” serving a one-year ban following his positive PED tests pre and post-fight for his April 20 win over Devin Haney. Garcia is suspended in the U.S. until at least April, which led to his win against Devin Haney being changed to a no contest. It has now been revealed that the Victorville native will return to the ring in an exhibition on December 30, 2024, to face Japanese kickboxing star Rukiya Anpo in Tokyo.

Details of Ryan Garcia Fight Revealed
The exhibition bout will take place in Tokyo and will be shown on Fanmio PPV. The weight for this intriguing fight will be 153 pounds with both going toe-to-toe over eight two-minute rounds. His opponent may be an unknown quantity to many outside of Japan, but he did gain some traction when he fought Manny Pacquiao in a July 2024 exhibition.
Referring to Anpo vs. Pacquiao, “Kingry” said: “I’m looking forward to knocking Anpo out for trying to knock out the legend Manny Pacquiao,” Garcia said. “Manny is past his prime and for him to try to knock him out rubbed me the wrong way. I will knock him out and teach him a lesson of respect.”

Anpo is a big star in Japan and became a kickboxing world champion in 2019. Speaking on the challenge of facing Garcia, he said: “I surpass Ryan in size, speed, power, everything.”
He continued: “If he goes into this match feeling like a party, it’s definitely going to be a beatdown. I’m going to beat the shit out of an arrogant, cocky Ryan and show America who the real bad boy is.”
Devin Haney Suing Ryan Garcia
Recently when talking to Oscar Bevis at The Stomping Ground, Eddie Hearn spoke about the decision of Devin Haney to file a lawsuit against Garcia alleging battery, fraud and unjust enrichment, with Garcia’s promoter, Golden Boy Promotions also named in the suit. Hearn said on the lawsuit: “It’s really interesting. This could be a really pivotal moment for boxing because people have said in the past that when a fighter fails a drug test and goes through with the fight, should there be legal action or a police action against that fighter.”

He continued: “This case is going to be really interesting because if Devin Haney wins this case, I think it’s going to really start to deter fighters more, and that is definitely needed from taking performance-enhancing drugs.”
The return of Ryan Garcia looks set to be an interesting one, but where does “Kingry” go after this exhibition?
