Sam Noakes vs. Gianluca Ceglia: Press Conference Quotes and Fight Prediction
Sam Noakes (14-0, 13 KOs) soon defends his European lightweight title against Gianluca Ceglia (21-4-1, 4 KOs).
The two fighters headline a Queensberry Promotions card at York Hall in London, England. Boxing fans in the United Kingdom can catch the action on TNT Sports. Noakes will be making the first defence of his European title. He won the belt in April with a unanimous decision against Yvan Mendy .
Ahead of their September 6 lightweight clash, both men spoke at a press conference. Below is some of what they had to say.
Sam Noakes vs. Gianluca Ceglia Press Conference Quotes
Sam Noakes
“We’ve known about this fight, literally since after the Mendy fight,” said Noakes. “So obviously I’ve been aware that he’s been preparing for this fight. But listen, so have we. I’m coming back off a good win, looking dominant, not losing a round. So, it’s the same old, same old, innit? Another fight at the end of the day. So, looking forward to getting in there Friday and just doing the business, really.”
Gianluca Ceglia
“I have never stopped training since I won the European ‘silver’ [title],” said Ceglia through an interpreter. “I’m feeling very well and confident about this fight.”
“I’m sure that my opponent is well prepared, but at the same time I am very confident because I have been training and look forward to this fight.”
Fight Prediction
Both Noakes and Ceglia have a few opponents in common. Among them is Mendy himself. While Noakes won every round against the Frenchman, Ceglia lost via a wide unanimous decision. Another opponent that both men have fought is Vincenzo Finiello. While Noakes defeated the Italian via fourth-round stoppage, Ceglia went the full 10 rounds before winning by unanimous decision. There is a gulf in class between Noakes and Ceglia, something that will be apparent when they fight. Expect the Brit to win via stoppage.
