Details on Garcia Being Taken Into Custody
The gossip website had more on what happened,
Ryan Garcia was arrested for felony vandalism at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills Saturday afternoon … and TMZ Sports has video of the superstar boxer being led away by cops in handcuffs.
Law enforcement sources tell us the boxer was arrested and taken into custody after he allegedly damaged property at the hotel, including his room and the hallway. In California, any damage over $400 can be considered a felony.
The 25-1 fighter, who we’re told was seemingly under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, complied with authorities and went peacefully.

Eyewitnesses tell us they saw nearly a dozen cop cars outside the hotel, presumably responding to the incident.
As TMZ wrote, they obtained video of the final seconds of Garcia being led out of the hotel in handcuffs and to the Beverly Hills Jail shortly before 4 p.m. Pacific time. The site further reported that hotel staff had called the police on Wednesday night for a welfare check on Garcia after a member of his family called downstairs saying he was in some kind of distress.
The authorities came to the room but deemed that there wasn’t a serious safety concern or need for any charges to be filed at that time.
Mounting Troubles for Garcia
The latest development continues an “unravelling” of sorts for the 25-year-old Garcia since his sensational 12-round decision win over Haney on April 20th. Garcia had improved to 25-1 with the win, but had badly missed the contracted weight of 140 lb. by over 3 lb. on Friday before the fight and then, it was later revealed that he failed both a pre-fight drug test and a post-fight drug test for the banned PED Ostarine.
Garcia requested that the second “B Samples” of his urine also be tested later in May and those also came back positive for Ostarine. He now faces an upcoming hearing with the New York Athletic Commission where he will likely be suspended from having a boxing license for at least six months, if not a full year or more.

Garcia’s lawyer/spokesperson told TMZ later Saturday night that the fighter was taken by the Beverly Hills Police to a local hospital and that in his words he “would be charged with public intoxication.”
It’s unclear on Sunday if Garcia remains in the Beverly Hills jail or was released.
