Conor Benn Extended the Distance Once Again
Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) had to go the distance once again in order to get the unanimous decision victory over Peter Dobson (16-1, 9 KOs).
Scores for the contest were 119-109 and 118-110 (x2). The bout headlined a Matchroom Boxing event in the Chelsea Ballroom at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in NV, USA. DAZN broadcasted the card around the world. Benn-Dobson was held in the afternoon in Las Vegas so that it would occur during primetime in the U.K.

Conor Benn Goes the Distance Again
Benn began the fight with an aggressive, but not reckless, approach. He walked towards Dobson, landing hard hooks in the opening round itself. The second and third saw more of the same, but from the end of round three onwards Dobson started to show a bit more intent with clean right hands.
Benn continued landing hooks on his opponent in the middle rounds. However, Dobson not only took them, he also continued to stay in close range against Benn. What set the two apart was the greater activity from “The Destroyer,” whose punches also had more of an impact on Dobson than vice versa.

Both fighters did their best to secure the stoppage win in the final round, but it was all for naught. The wide scorecards do not entirely reflect the work Dobson put in during the middle rounds which caused Benn to be a bit more patient during the fight. In the end, the judges saw the higher volume of punches from the British fighter as the deciding factor in many of the rounds.

“I always go for the first round [stoppage]. If I see an opening, I take it. I don’t miss when I shoot. I took my shots, he was still standing. He was tough. He was in there to survive, really. I’m a bit disappointed.”

Conor Benn vs. Peter Dobson Undercard Results
Austin “Ammo” Williams (16-0, 11 KOs) won via seventh-round stoppage against Armel Mbumba-Yassa (10-1, 7 KOs). The time of stoppage for this 10-round middleweight clash was 2:52. Mbumba-Yassa went down once in round six and again in the seventh, after which referee Harvey Dock put an end to it.
Johnny Fisher (11-0, 10 KOs) knocked out Dmytro Bezus (10-2, 5 KOs) in the opening round of their eight-round heavyweight contest. Fisher was landing a barrage of punches with Bezus on the ropes, causing referee Robert Hoyle to wave off the fight at the 2:51 mark.
Opening the main broadcast, Khalil Coe (8-0-1, 6 KOs) stopped Juan Osuna (20-1, 18 KOs) in the second round. The time of stoppage for this eight-round light heavyweight fight was 1:14. Osuna went to the canvas three times before referee Allen Huggins ended the bout.
On the “Before the Bell” portion of the event, George Liddard (6-0, 3 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Andrew Buchanan (3-1-1, 2 KOs). Scores for this six-round middleweight contest were 60-54 across the board.
Jimmy Sains (3-0, 3 KOs) began the card with a first round knockout of Alejandro Avalos (1-3, 0 KOs). The time of stoppage for this four-round middleweight bout was 2:47. Avalos went to the canvas twice before referee Huggins waved off the fight.
