Alexandro Santiago-Junto Nakatani Headline Title Fight Tripleheader
A title fight tripleheader is now official for early next year. Alexandro Santiago (28-3-5, 14 KOs) will meet Junto Nakatani (26-0, 19 KOs) in the main event of a card set to take place on Feb. 24.
The bout headlines an event at the Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo, Japan. Santiago‘s WBC bantamweight title will be on the line. The clash was announced in the same press conference that made Kenshiro Teraji-Carlos Cañizales official. Amazon Prime will broadcast the event in Japan. A broadcaster has not been announced for the rest of the world.

Junto Nakatani Aiming for World Title
Nakatani seeks to win a world title in a third weight class when he steps into the ring. Previously, he was the WBO super flyweight champion following a brutal knockout victory over Andrew Moloney on the Devin Haney-Vasyl Lomachenko undercard. The Japanese southpaw made one defence of that belt in September this year. In 2020, he became the WBO flyweight champion with an eighth-round knockout of Giemel Magramo. Nakatani made two defences of that title before moving up.
Santiago became world champion following a unanimous decision victory over Nonito Donaire on the Errol Spence-Terence Crawford undercard. A previous attempt to become champion ended with a split draw against Jerwin Ancajas, who also features on the tripleheader.
Takuma Inoue Faces Former Alexandro Santiago Opponent
Takuma Inoue (18-1, 4 KOs), Naoya‘s younger brother, will face Jerwin Ancajas (34-3-2, 23 KOs) for the WBA bantamweight title. Inoue won the belt with a unanimous decision over Liborio Solis in April this year. This will be the Japanese fighter’s first defence of that title.
Ancajas looks to become world champion once again with a win. The former super flyweight titlist lost his IBF belt in a unanimous decision loss to Fernando Martinez in 2022. He was unable to win the strap back in a rematch they had later that year. The loss marked the end of a lengthy title reign for Ancajas.
Kosei Tanaka Looks to Become Four Division Champion
Kosei Tanaka (19-1, 11 KOs) gets a second opportunity at becoming a four division titlist when he takes on Christian Bacasegua (22-4-2, 9 KOs). The two will clash for the vacant WBO super flyweight title previously held by Nakatani.
Previously, Tanaka sought to become super flyweight champion when he took on Kazuto Ioka in 2020. However, he wound up being stopped in eight rounds to the more experienced fighter, who in turn became a four division world champion with the win. Bacasegua is challenging for a title for the first time and is on a nine-fight win streak.
According to BoxRec, a fourth fight between Jonas Sultan (19-6, 11 KOs) and Riku Masuda (3-1, 3 KOs) will take place over eight rounds at bantamweight.
