Report- Tim Tszyu Will Now Headline March Gausha Bout

With the Undisputed Jr. Middleweight title fight in the U.S. he was supposed to be on the undercard of now on hold, Australian unbeaten star Tim Tszyu will still come to the states and now headline in a March card the following week.

At least that’s the report of a fairly reliable social media poster called “ranger rollins” who tweeted about Tszyu with details on re-scheduling his bout with U.S. journeyman fighter Terrell Gausha,

As we have written, Tszyu, 20-0, 15 KOs, has been in a holding pattern for two weeks on whether he would still fight in the U.S. for the first time or not? This, after WBO champ Brian Castano put his Undisputed title rematch bout with WBC/WBA/IBF champ, Jermell Charlo, on hold. Castano is citing a biceps injury to delay their bout that was to have been March 19th in L.A.

Castano says will be better without surgery and that, if Charlo would wait, they could fight in late April or May. However, that’s a real risk, especially if Castano ends up waiting until mid March and then still has to have surgery, anyway.

Tszyu-Gausha was to have been the co-feature for Charlo-Castano, with the WBO’s #1 contender being promised a shot at the winner for later in the year.

Tszyu, is the 27 year old son of Hall of Famer Kosta Tszyu, has been on the “fast-track” to a world title shot by wiping out competition in Australia over the last two years. The most recent of those came in November, when he defeated Japan’s Takeshi Inoue in a convincing 12 round performance held in Tszyu’s hometown of Sydney.

He also had stopped former Welterweight champ Jeff Horn and former title challenger at 154 lb., Dennis Hogan in recent bouts, as well.

The report on social media also has validity, as Showtime and Premier Boxing Champions are looking to salvage Tszyu’s bout and at least one more fight that would have been on the undercard that had been scheduled for the week prior of March 19th. Boxingscene.com’s Keith Idec tweeted later Monday evening that he’s learned that Minneapolis’ Armory arena will be the site on March 26th.
