Robert Easter Jr Updated His Condition Early Tuesday

Former Lightweight World Champion Robert Easter Jr. is still recovering after being shot during a robbery in Cincinnati on Sunday night. And, on Monday evening Easter began to update his status from a Cincinnati hospital.

First a social media photo appeared Monday evening from fellow fighter Mychal Fox showing Easter sitting up in a hospital bed post surgery,

Then, the fighter posted on early Tuesday morning on how he was feeling, while hospitalized.

Authorities in Cincinnati are still looking for the alleged gunman and robbers that shot Easter multiple times on Sunday evening in the 1100 block of Sycamore Street north of Downtown. The area where Easter was shot is not far from the nearby Hard Rock Casino, but it’s not clear if that’s where Easter had been or not?

Easter’s Father, Robert Sr., told a Toledo television station Monday that Easter was approached on the street from behind by multiple men demanding his Diamond chain around his neck, his rings and his cell phone. The father relayed that his son tried to run from the individuals and was then shot. Thankfully, none of the wounds were life-threatening.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported on Tuesday that authorities there have no suspects named, much less any arrests. And, they are actively seeking help from the public on who may have witnessed the incident Sunday evening?

This is not the first time the younger Easter has been in the news for the wrong reasons, recently.

As we wrote previously, he was charged with punching a dancer at a Toledo strip club last August. Easter Jr. pled “no contest” to the charges in November and received probation with the condition that he had to undergo anger management counseling, as well, to avoid a jail sentence.

Easter was last in the ring last February, when he scored a unanimous decision win over Ryan Martin as part of the Showtime/PBC card at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut without fans present to improve his record to 23-1-1. That fight ended a period of 16 months of inactivity after he had defeated Adrian Granados by decision in October 2019. Easter, Jr. was ranked in the top 10 of three world rankings in early 2020 but had dropped out due to lack of activity.

Easter, Jr. captured the IBF 135 lb. World Title in September 2016, when he beat Richard Commey by split decision. He defended the title three times over the next 16 months before losing it in a unification bout to Mikey Garcia by decision in July of 2018.
