One Step Closer To Kell Brook-Amir Khan

Longtime British rivals Kell Brook and Amir Khan were slated to have the biggest fight in the country’s history last decade. That never materialized for one reason or a hundred, but 2022 maybe when we finally, and I want to reiterate, FINALLY see these two face off.

We do know at least one thing is for certain is that there is a contract in place for it to happen, as Brook made it known speaking to iFL TV that he has signed his part of the deal to fight Khan.

“When you’ve been in the game for 26 years, you lose the taste for it,” Brook told IFL TV. “I need a big massive fight to get my teeth into.

“And the fight we all want to see is the guy from Bolton. I’ve signed my part of the fight. He just needs to come forward and sign his part, and we’ve got the biggest fight in British boxing.

This sounds promising on that front as this fight has been bantered about since the mid-2010s. It also sounds like a fighter who isn’t calling it quits just yet. Brook confirmed that as well.

“I believe I have plenty left. I’m doing things in the gym that I’ve always done. I’m a one off. I can mix it with the best in the world,” Brook noted.

So where is Khan at?

The latest whereabouts is what Khan has been up to was last seen in Pakistan the past few weeks, and in the latest social post, he spoke about opening up a hospital near Matore, where he has roots for the less fortunate. May slightly explain his delay in signing his side of the fight.

Amir Khan, however, in the ring hasn’t been there since he faced Billy Dib back in 2019. Since then, Khan has made it known that he isn’t finished either and was last spotted in a training camp with Jamel Herring before his title defense against Shakur Stevenson.

You don’t need me to tell you that this fight is long past its due date. Here’s to 2022 being the end-all of what should be the last fight from everyone’s “Must See Matches of 2016” list.
