Charlie Edwards vs Salvador Juarez
Next up was Charlie Edwards (21-2, 7 KOs) vs Salvador Juarez (20-10-2, 4 KOs) in the super flyweight division. After a slow opening round, Edwards found his groove in the second, moving and picking his shots swiftly. Edwards’ shot selection and accuracy stood out over the next few rounds as he began to dominate the fight. Juarez tried to cut the ring off and disrupt the Brit, but he was too slick for the Mexican in the first half of the fight.
Juarez landed his best shot in the fifth round, but Edwards ultimately took the shot well. The Brit quickly reasserted his dominance, showcasing impressive speed and accuracy in his punches. Edwards continued to vary his attacks and outbox Juarez. The fight ultimately went to the judges’ scorecards, who scored it 99-91 x2, with one inexplicably scoring it 96-94, awarding Edwards the WBC international super flyweight title.
