On March 8 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – we saw an entertaining “Knockout Chaos” undercard with knockouts and impressive performances. Israil Madrimov vs. Magomed Kurbanov followed a series of entertaining fights, and Madrimov got the win, collecting the vacant WBA super welterweight title.

Madrimov Collects the WBA Strap

From the first bell, Israil Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs) impressed against Magomed Kurbanov (25-1, 13 KOs) with his slick foot movement and excellent punch variation. He was quicker to the punch throughout. It was his punch variation that impressed most. In round five Madrimov rocked his Russian opponent and smelt blood, putting together punch-perfect combinations, forcing referee Steve Gray to wave the fight off and crown The Uzbek fighter the new WBA super welterweight title.

Mark Chamberlain (15-0, 11 KOs) produced a career-best performance, dominating from the first bell against Gavin Gwynne (17-3-1, 5 KOs). Chamberlain cut his Welsh opponent in the first round. He picked his punches exceptionally well, with impressive variation between head and body. He let Gwynne feel the power, and the referee waved the fight off simultaneously as the towel came in from the Welsh fighter’s corner, awarding the Portsmouth native a fourth-round TKO victory.

Justis Huni (9-0, 4 KOs) defeated Kevin Lerena (30-3, 14 KOs) in a fight where the South African fighter had success troubling Huni in the second and final rounds with left hands. Huni worked well in the middle part of the fight, picking his shots and pivoting well. The judge’s scorecards read 96-94 x2 and 98-92 in favour of the Brisbane fighter.

Knockout Chaos Undercard

Louis Greene (17-4, 11 KOs), off the back of a defeat in his last fight, revived his career with a huge right hand in the first round, which knocked Jack McGann (9-1-1, 6 KOs) down, leaving him unable to continue.

Tyson Fury was ringside to see his brother Roman Fury (4-0, 1 KO) defeat Martin Svarc (2-1, 1 KO), with referee Kieran McCann scoring their cruiserweight fight 39-37.

Ziyad Almaayouf (5-0, 1 KO) defeated Christian Loopes Flores (14-36-2, 12 KOs), with the referee Kieran McCann scoring the fight 60-54 for Almaaayouf.

Unbeaten Ukrainian heavyweight Andrii Novytskyi (10-0, 9 KOs) dominated Juan Torres (11-6-1, 4 KOs) with an impressive showing in their heavyweight clash, winning by third-round KO.
