Emanuel Navarrete vs. Eduardo Núñez fight recap

Emanuel Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs, 1 NC) outworked Eduardo Núñez (29-1, 27 KOs) to get an eleventh round technical knockout win.

The official time of stoppage was 0:01. Navarrete is now the WBO and IBF super featherweight world champion with the victory. He won the WBO strap in 2023 against Liam Wilson.

Navarrete immediately went on the front foot, pursuing his opponent around the ring. Núñez’s punch output was low in the early rounds. He kept his distance by moving around the ring off his back foot. Navarrete’s longer reach allowed him to land his unorthodox punches from range. By the beginning of round four, Núñez was sporting a cut under his right eye.

Núñez changed his approach in the fifth. He opted to close the distance and throw hard punches from close range. Although he had a bit of success doing this, Navarrete was still getting the better of him. The multi-division world champion landed an array of hooks and uppercuts that Núñez struggled to avoid.

Navarrete threw the kitchen sink in round 10, furthering bloodying the right eye of his opponent. Núñez remained standing, but it would not be long before the fight came to an end. At the beginning of round 11, he was assessed by a ringside physician. After it was declared that Núñez was in no position to continue due to a swollen and cut right eye, the fight was waved off.
