Three Most Memorable Career Wins for Eimantas Stanionis

Eimantas Stanionis vs Gabriel Maestre

Eimantas Stanionis returned to the ring following two years of inactivity to face Gabriel Maestre on May 4, 2024, in Las Vegas. A bright start from Maestre seemed to prompt the Lithuanian fighter to find his groove quickly.

The accuracy from Stanionis was the standout and ensured he dictated the tempo of the fight. There were points in the fight that Stanioinis had his opponent hurt but a stoppage never really looked on the cards. It was ultimately a deserved and comfortable unanimous decision victory for the Lithuanian fighter (117-111, 118-110 and 119-109).

Radzhab Butaev

Stanionis became the WBA welterweight champion by defeating Radzhab Butaev by a split decision on April 16, 2022. One judge had it 114-113 for Butaev, while the other two scored it 117-110 and 116-11 for the Lithuanian.

The accuracy from Stanionis, was once again the difference as he picked his punches impressively and wasted very little. He simply outworked his opponent and landed the more eye-catching shots and thoroughly deserved to win the WBA crown.

Janer Gonzalez

On December 16, 2020, Stanionis dominated the experienced Colombian Janer Gonzalez, stopping him in round nine of their clash at the Shrine Exposition Center, Los Angeles. The Lithuanian was landing the more eye-catching punches more often. He scored a knockdown in the second with a well-timed left hook to the body.

Gonzalez tried to land counters, but Stanionis mixed his shots well and was accurate with his work, which ensured he was dominating the rounds. A big uppercut in the eighth sent Gonzalez down again, before a huge overhand right knocked him down in the ninth, leading to the fight being waved off.
