Crocker vs Donovan 2 – all results from September 13

Crocker vs Donovan 2

After an entertaining night of boxing, it was time for Crocker vs Donovan 2 to take centre stage. A tentative opening round and a much more patient Crocker (22-0, 11 KOs) than in the first fight. Donovan (14-2, 11 KOs) was the busier and landed a nice left to the body near the end of the round.

Crocker continued to be patient, looking to catch Donovan coming in, and he caught him in the third round, knocking Donovan down. Near the end of the fourth round, Donovan looked to be more settled, but Crocker still looked dangerous with these more patient tactics.

Donovan was beginning to look on top and enjoyed an impressive fifth round before Crocker landed a beautiful left hand to score his second knockdown. Following the knockdown, Donovan regrouped well and began to pick his shots and move more effectively.

As the fight reached the championship rounds, Donovan worked well off his jab and was showcasing excellent footwork to control the distance and tempo much more effectively. Despite Crocker having some success in the second half of the fight, the cleaner work came from “The Real Deal.” It went to the judges’ scorecards, which read 115-111 for Donovan, while the other two judges favoured Crocker, scoring it 114-112 and 114-113, crowning Lewis Crocker the new IBF welterweight champion by split decision.

Caoimhin Agyarko vs Ishmael Davis

Next up in the chief support slot was an intriguing super welterweight clash between Caoimhin Agyarko (18-0, 7 KOs) and Ishmael Davis (13-3, 6 KOs).

It was a bright opening round for Davis, but Agyarko quickly settled and began to put together some nice combinations. His movement and body work were impressive in the early stages.

Throughout the early rounds, it was very much Agyarko winning the exchanges, despite the constant pressure from Davis. The sixth round was a much better one for Davis, winning the exchanges and landing the more hurtful punches.

As the rounds progressed, the pressure from Davis began to swing the fight in his favour. The right eye of Agyarko began to close rapidly, but the Belfast man dug deep to land some nice combinations in round nine, in what was a great back-and-forth three minutes.

The later rounds saw both have success, with Agyarko landing some nice combinations, but the pressure from Davis continued, and a controversial moment came in the final round when the referee called a seeming tangle of legs as a knockdown in favour of Davis, much to the disgust of “Black Thunder.” A great end to the fight saw both exchange heavy punches. It went to the judges’ scorecards, which read 115-112 for Davis and 114-113 for Agyarko, while the final card read 114-113 for Agyarko. A split decision win for “Black Thunder.”

Dylan Moran vs Tyrone McKenna

Next up on the Crocker vs Donovan 2 undercard was the welterweight rematch between Dylan Moran (19-4, 9 KOs) and Tyrone McKenna (25-6-1, 7 KOs). As expected, there was no feeling-out process, with both landing hurtful-looking shots during the first few rounds, but the cleaner work came from Moran.

It was a strong third and fourth round from McKenna, who hurt Moran and landed a number of telling punches. The Waterford fighter had his moments in the round, but was mostly outworked by “The Mighty Celt.”

Moran continued to have success over the next few rounds, but the more telling punches came from McKenna. In the seventh round, McKenna landed a big left hand, which had his opponent in trouble, and another left hand forced the knockdown. Despite beating the count, McKenna smelled the finish and after another flurry of punches, the referee waved the fight off, awarding “The Mighty Celt” the TKO win.

Pat Brown vs Austine Nnamdi

It was the cruiserweights up next, with Pat Brown (3-0, 3 KOs) vs Austine Nnamdi (12-5, 10 KOs). It was a conservative start for both, with both having success towards the end of the round.

After a challenging opening round, Brown increased the tempo and landed a right hand, knocking Nnamdi down. The Manchester-born fighter then began to let his hands go and landed a vicious left hook, which left Nnamdi on unsteady legs. Brown followed up with two heavy shots before the referee jumped in to wave the fight off, much to the disappointment of Nnamdi, with Brown winning by second-round TKO.

Molly McCann vs Kate Radomska

First up on the Crocker vs Donovan 2 DAZN undercard was Molly McCann (1-0, 1 KO), making her professional boxing debut in the super bantamweight division against Kate Radomska (4-8, 0 KOs). It was a confident start from the former UFC star, who began on the front foot and landed some eye-catching shots near the end of the first round.

In the midst of a sustained attack, Radomska inexplicably kicked out at McCann, something the referee missed. McCann continued to box well and land heavy shots, with Radomska looking to survive. A clubbing right hand in the fifth round from the Liverpudlian saw her score a knockdown. After another sustained attack in the next round from the former UFC star, the corner from Radomska decided to throw the towel in. A great start for McCann, who won by sixth-round TKO.

Matthew Boreland vs Ruadhan Farrell

The final fight of the Crocker vs Donovan 2 prelims was Matthew Boreland (6-0, 2 KOs) vs Ruadhan Farrell (7-2-1, 2 KOs) for Farrell’s Irish super bantamweight title. It was an impressive start from Boreland, who landed a well-timed right hand and left hook, which seemed to unsettle Farrell during the first two rounds.

Farrell began to settle in the third and beat Boreland to the punch. In the sixth round, two massive left hooks from Boreland sent Farrell to the canvas. He beat the count and recovered brilliantly before Boreland landed a massive right hand and followed up with two more heavy shots, with the ropes only keeping Farrell up, who stumbled back to his corner after beating the count. Farrell was unable to recover, and his corner withdrew him from the fight at the end of round six, making Boreland the new Irish super bantamweight champion.

Donagh Keary vs Caine Singh

Next up on the Donovan vs Crocker 2 prelims was Donagh Keary (3-1, 0 KOs) vs Caine Singh (3-7-2, 0 KOs) in the super bantamweight division. Singh applied relentless pressure throughout the first three rounds, landing significant shots.

Keary boxed well in stages and clearly landed the better shots. The energy levels never dipped from Singh as he outworked Keary, especially in the final two rounds. The referee’s scorecard read 39-37 in favour of Singh, who gained the upset win.

Aaron Bowen vs Carlos Miguel Ronner

Aaron Bowen (7-0, 5 KOs) vs Carlos Miguel Ronner (7-6, 2 KOs) was next in the middleweight division. Bowen, who is known for being in more wars than needed, fought with more composure. He used his jab well and countered smartly throughout the opening two rounds. A brutal left to the body near the end of round two left Ronner in visible pain.

Despite beating the count, Bowen quickly landed a straight right, flooring Ronner again, prompting the referee to wave the fight off, awarding Bowen the second-round TKO victory.

Kyle Smith vs Connor Meanwell

Next up in the super welterweight division was Kyle Smith (1-0, 0 KOs), making his professional debut against Connor Meanwell (2-30-1, 0 KOs). Smith showcased impressive footwork throughout and picked his punches, often making Meanwell miss. The movement and variation continued for the rest of the fight, with Smith picking up a deserved 40-36 win.

Jim Donovan vs Lukasz Barabasz

In the opening fight of the night in the middleweight division, impressive amateur and cousin of Paddy Donovan (1-0, 0 KO), Jim Donovan, made his professional debut against Lukasz Barabasz (4-18, 2 KOs). The Limerick fighter started brightly, mixing his shots impressively and hurting his opponent with a straight left in the opening round.

A glancing left uppercut saw Donovan score a knockdown, with Barabasz protesting it was a slip. The Polish fighter had some success in the final round, but it was ultimately an assured performance from the Irish southpaw. The referee scored the fight 39-36.
