Saúl Álvarez vs. Terence Crawford Fight Recap
Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) became undisputed at a third weight class with a unanimous decision win against Saúl Álvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs).
Scores were 116-112 and 115-113 (x2). With the victory, Crawford is now the undisputed super middleweight champion of the world. He also held that distinction at super lightweight and welterweight in addition to being a lightweight and super welterweight titlist.
The opening round saw both men throw few punches, each taking the time to study the other at range. Crawford stuck to boxing from the southpaw stance and was mostly moving around the ring, making the undisputed champion move towards him. Canelo’s hardest shots were landing on the body in the early rounds. It was not until the fourth that he started having success to the head.

Crawford’s consistent movement made him a difficult target to hit, but Canelo was still able to land hooks from time to time. The Mexican seemed frustrated with his inability to pin down his opponent and let off a combination. It allowed the challenger to box from the outside without taking much damage.
Crawford let his hands go the moment round nine began, but Canelo responded in turn. For a short period of time both men stood at close range and threw combinations. However, it was during this brief period that Crawford suffered a small cut due to an accidental head clash.

Part of round 11 was spent trading at close quarters with both fighters having success. Crawford continued to box from the outside, though, having his best moments from that range. Canelo, despite his efforts in the eleventh and twelfth rounds, could not make a significant dent in his opponent. It allowed Crawford to eventually seal the win on the judges scorecards.
