Christian Mbilli vs. Maciej Sulecki: Press Conference Quotes and Fight Prediction
Christian Mbilli (28-0, 23 KOs) and Maciej Sulecki (33-3, 13 KOs) will soon face each other in a 12-round super middleweight contest.
Their bout headlines an Eye of the Tiger Management card at the Centre Videotron in Québec City, Canada. Boxing fans in the country can catch the action live on Punching Grace. Those in the United States can do so with ESPN+.
Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their June 27 fight. Below is some of what they had to say (unfortunately, no video footage of the presser is available. Quotes are courtesy of a Top Rank press release).
Christian Mbilli vs. Maciej Sulecki Press Conference Quotes
Christian Mbilli
“It’s been a long time,” said Mbilli. “We’ve been waiting for this day for a long time, but we’ve finally made it. We’re making it happen. And Friday will be a day of glory. The belt will be coming home.”
“I always say that after such a difficult journey, this entire training camp, and all the ups and downs, there has to be someone who will pay the price. And think Sulecki will have to pay for it on Friday.”
Maciej Sulecki
“This is a big honor for me,” said Sulecki. “I’m ready for a great fight. I had a good camp, and I had great sparring partners.”
“I know Christian Mbilli is a good fighter. He is very strong and aggressive, and sometimes he’s very wild in the ring. But I know what I have to do in the ring. I’m ready.”
Fight Prediction
Mbilli is a fighter who enters the ring to get the stoppage. While viewers can expect him to have the same mentality going into Friday night, his opponent is not someone who is easily stopped. For instance, Sulecki was dropped twice in round nine against Gabriel Rosado but got up both times to make it to the final bell and win a unanimous decision. Mbilli will win their fight via stoppage but do not expect it to happen until at least round eight.
