Former Golovkin Opponent Favours Canelo – Cites Madrimov Problems for Crawford

Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) is set for September 13 at Allegiant Stadium, live on Netflix to its 300 million subscribers. The entire card will be promoted by Sela and Riyadh Season, with Zuffa also confirmed as involved. Many are weighing in on who will win, and Gabriel Rosado, who previously fought Gennadiy Golovkin, the man that memorably shared the ring three times with Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs), has spoken to Fight Hub TV to break down the fight.

Whoever you speak to or listen to has an opinion on Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford. Rosado shared the ring with GGG back in 2013 and was behind on all the scorecards when his corner threw in the towel. Fast-forward to 2017, and GGG and Alvarez fought to a split draw. When talking to Fight Hub TV, Rosado had his say: “I favour Canelo, but not by a lot, but I do favour him. I just think that the Scull fight was just a bad style, and I think Canelo was like, ‘why force the issue?’ I’m up. This guy’s running, I’m not gonna take a chance.

“So, I think that it was that kind of fight for Canelo. But Madrimov did give Crawford problems. Where I felt like, damn, at (1)54, he gave you problems, (1)68 is different.”

Canelo has shown throughout his career that he has a great chin, facing some of the biggest punchers in the sport, including Gennadiy Golovkin and Sergey Kovalev. Crawford has carried plenty of power at lighter weights, but it is hard to see him knocking Canelo out at 168.

Despite his last performance against William Scull, Canelo has shown his class repeatedly. He will need to cut the ring off effectively. Crawford must stay mobile and, when he sets his feet, throw fast combinations to deter Canelo.

Rosado points to the trouble Madrimov gave Crawford with his awkward, jerky style. The Mexican needs to draw ‘Bud’ forward and punish him with heavy counters.´
