Big Drama Show is in action at Madison Square Garden
It is Big Drama Show weekend, and we have a middleweight showdown ahead of us that takes place Saturday night at Madison Square Garden as Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin faces Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the vacant IBF and IBO titles.
One of the big underlying themes leading up to the contest this week airing on the streaming platform DAZN is that Golovkin is sick and tired of talking about Canelo Alvarez and wants to move on to any and everything else. The latest episode of the Big Fight Weekend Podcast looks into that as well the matchup Saturday Night at the Mecca of Boxing.

The first guest on the program is Marquis Johns, senior writer for Big Fight Weekend. Marquis talks about his thoughts on last week’s fight between Errol Spence and Shawn Porter and why he enjoyed it. He also previews Golovkin and Derevyanchenko and discussions about the fallout during the week of Bob Arum saying nobody watched the pay-per-view.
He also spoke about the lack of promotion for the matchup of Claressa Shields and Ivana Habzin. Sadly, shortly after the podcast, that fight was called off due to an assault at the weigh-in.
The second guest on the podcast is the man who will be on the call of the Golovkin-Derevyanchenko fight in Sergio Mora. “The Latin Snake” gives his thoughts on Spence-Porter as he was in the arena for the match. Mora also shakes down the split decision that happened in provides us with some insight on what to look for in the fight he is calling in Madison Square Garden.
Mora also gives us look into Golovkin’s fight week and why he doesn’t want to hear “the c-word” anymore.
We close the show is The Boxing Writer’s David Payne from the UK. David gives us his breakdown of Spence-Porter and if we’ll ever going to see the matchup of Terence Crawford against Errol Spence. He also gets his thoughts on the Fury-Wallin fight and how it helped Fury in the long run.
We also get his thoughts on Dereck Chisora getting a “suitable replacement” and who would it be. Lastly, we get his thoughts on The Big Drama Show between Golovkin and Derevyanchenko.

Marquis Johns is a unknown humorist and avid boxing fan. His love for the sweet science goes back to when matches were 15 rounds and has been covering fights since closed-circuit pay-per-views. Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth is not only a quote by Mike Tyson, it's also a pretty good reminder to keep your guard up.
