Wayne Rooney has recently been linked with entering the world of boxing and has spoken on those rumours during an appearance on the Stick to Football podcast. The Manchester United legend – was recently axed from the managerial hot seat at Birmingham City.

The Stick to Football podcast episode – featuring Rooney – was released on February 21, and near the beginning of the interview – a clip was played where Eddie Hearn talks about how big a potential fight between Rooney and Jake Paul would be and mentions Old Trafford as a possible venue.

Gary Neville asked Rooney following the clip if he was ever going to box, and the Manchester United legend said: “You never know.” He continued:  “They’ve been in touch and asked the question. But at the minute, I want to focus on getting back into management, not boxing.”

The Manchester United legend then clarifies: “There’s been a few obviously. Misfits have been, and that’s been all over the news. I want to focus on getting back into management, that’s my focus.”

Rooney’s Love for Boxing

Despite Rooney reiterating his desire to succeed in football management, it appears a move into the boxing world is likely.

DAZN broadcast the Misfits fights, and a potential Rooney appearance would be fascinating. They have previously hosted bouts with influencers and contests between OnlyFans models.
