Malik Scott Reveals Fighter Who Could Trigger Tyson Fury Comeback

On January 13, 2025, Tyson Fury announced his retirement from professional boxing via his personal Instagram. It wasn’t the first time “The Gypsy King” had retired, and many immediately doubted the latest announcement. Recently, speculation has increased after Fury was seen back in the gym working the heavy bag. Now,  Deontay Wilder’s trainer, Malik Scott, has spoken to The Stomping Ground, revealing the one fighter he believes could trigger Fury’s comeback.

Tyson Fury Comeback Speculation

Malik Scott Feels Anthony Joshua is the Fight

Fury has lost his last two fights, both to Oleksandr Usyk. Not long after the rematch loss, Fury announced his retirement, saying: “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet.”

“I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing it’s been a blast. I’ve loved every single minute of it, and I’m going to end with this. Dick Turpin wore a mask.”

“See you all on (the) other side.”

Speculation has been constant since then that Fury could return for a mega fight with Anthony Joshua. Many have championed for that bout, including Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, who said earlier this year regarding the future for AJ: “I think the right thing to do would be to rematch Daniel Dubois, I think that’s what he would like to do, to have another shot at the world heavyweight championship.

“We want to fight Tyson Fury but know he’s retired at the moment

“I hope he (Fury) watched tonight (Beterbiev vs Bivol 2) and the hairs on his arms stood up a little bit.

“We could do something really special. Respect to him, if he doesn’t come back then good luck but if he could, there would be a lot of happy people.”

Malik Scott Discusses Potential Tyson Fury Comeback

When speaking to The Stomping Ground, Scott expressed his doubts that Fury will stay retired and named the fighter he believes could trigger the comeback: “He’s retired how many times now? If he’s going to come back and fight, personally I believe it is against AJ,” Scott said.

“I believe this is the time.”
