Spence- ‘Crawford needs me more than I need him’
The million-dollar question facing Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. fresh off his split decision victory of Shawn Porter, is what is next up for the undefeated IBF and now WBC welterweight champ.
One name that bears mentioning and it must beat said again, for the immediate future he will not be taking on WBO welter champion Terence Crawford. While that sticking point will forever be asked until it happens, Spence reaffirmed the media last night at his post-fight conference that once again, it’s not happening.

“It don’t matter,” Spence said at the post-fight conference. “The last time Crawford fought on pay-per-view [against Amir Khan], he did a hundred thousand buys. So, I’m not worried about Crawford right now. They don’t really promote him like they should be, so it is what it is. We’ll worry about Crawford when we get there. But like I said, Crawford need me more than I need him.”
These words coming from Spence to anyone paying attention he’s been saying about Crawford since we wrote about that here in April. We’ll find out what the final numbers for the heavily promoted pay-per-view card did Saturday night soon enough, but one is safe to assume it was over those mentioned above 100 thousand buys.
While a fight with Crawford not soon, the next likely option was Danny Garcia. Garcia was mentioned in the post-fight interview but was greeted to a smattering of boos from those in attendance at Staples Center.

“It was a top dog fight tonight,” said Garcia in the ring after Spence defeated Porter. “I want you next Errol. It was a tough rugged fight. Shawn Porter is a tough fighter. I’m here to say I want next.”
Once again, if you were looking for when Spence will take on Crawford, set those boxing alarm clocks on snooze cause it’s going to be a minute. Rest up.
