Shane Mosley Jr. (22-4, 12 KOs) recorded a career-best win against Daniel Jacobs (37-5, 30 KOs) on Saturday, July 6, at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Mosley Jr. outworked Jacobs for the majority of the fight, leading him to a unanimous decision win, with the judge’s scorecards reading 99-91 x2 and 100-90. In a post-fight interview, the Pomona-born fighter revealed who he wants to face next.

Shane Mosley Jr. Calls Out World Champion for Next Fight

Shane Mosley Jr. was convincing as he defeated Daniel Jacobs by unanimous decision. Mosley was the aggressor from the first round, with Jacobs the more patient fighter, but there was enough in Mosleys work to ensure he was picking up the majority of the rounds comfortably.

“Miracle Man” showed his class at times, with excellent timing in his punches, but this smart work was few and far between. Mosley was outworking Jacobs, and the higher volume of punches thrown by the Californian-born fighter was the difference.

Reflecting on the win, Mosley Jr. said: “The plan was to pick him apart because we knew he’d get tired.” He continued: “I was trying to press him in the middle rounds, but he’s a veteran and he knows how to get through it.”

“I’m proud of myself,” said Mosley Jr. “Danny has bricks in his hands, but I just stuck to the game plan and got the job done.”

Jacobs was honest in defeat: “I just didn’t do enough to get my hand raised in the end.”

Mosley Jr. Reveals Who He Wants Next

In the post-fight interview, Mosley was forthright in saying who he wants to fight next: I want Erislandy Lara, said Mosley Jr. If you’re listening, I want you. Let’s go, baby.”

Lara is still the WBA world middleweight champion – despite his inactivity in recent years. He returned to action this year, blowing away Michael Zerafa in two rounds, ending the fight with a heavy one-two combination. Mosley Jr. would have to return another career-best performance to defeat the WBA titlist.
