Shakur Stevenson vs Gervonta Davis: Mike Tyson breaks it down
Shakur Stevenson vs Gervonta Davis is a fight the boxing world has longed for. While Shakur continued to dazzle inside the ring, impressing most recently against Teofimo Lopez, winning by unanimous decision, Tank’s life continues to spiral, with legal woes following a disappointing draw against Lamont Roach Jr. When speaking in a recent media huddle, Mike Tyson gave an honest response when asked who would win between Stevenson and Davis.

Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) has received plenty of criticism during his career for his fighting style, but recent wins against William Zepeda, Teofimo Lopez and Josh Padley have helped catapult Shakur to the top table in boxing. His most recent win over Lopez was a dominant performance, negating all of Lopez’s strengths for the entire fight.
Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) is a prodigious talent, boasting plenty of swagger and fight-ending power. His highlight reel KOs against Leo Santa Cruz, Ryan Garcia, and Frank Martin have shown what Davis can do. It feels like there’s so much more to come, but his much-publicised troubles outside the ring have so far severely hampered his career.
Stevenson-Davis would be a huge bout for American boxing and the sport as a whole.

When asked who wins between Shakur and Tank, Tyson said: “Oh god, it’s gonna be interesting, because if Shakur handles this guy like he did Lopez, I’m gonna say hell with him. Somebody’s gotta give him a fight, though, but you gotta be very sophisticated to know how to fight.
“This is when I know you lost against Shakur. Once you start doing this stuff (posturing) and looking at him, it’s over. You gotta constant action, motions, constant motions against him. You gotta be on him constantly. Once you start looking at him and doing this, you’re dead. He’s gonna pick you apart.”
