Tyson Fury was considered by many to be the best heavyweight boxer on the planet before back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk and his subsequent retirement. Tyson Fury Sparring: Moses Itauma Reveals All

Whether Fury returns for a mega fight with Anthony Joshua remains to be seen, but Moses Itauma looks like the future of the heavyweight division. He is blowing away durable opponents in rapid fashion and appears ready for the next step.

When speaking to Boxing News Plus, Itauma was asked whether Fury just goes through the motions in sparring. His response was direct and humourous: “Oh man, nah he doesn’t. He does not. I went to Malta to spar him.

“I landed on Monday. I was ready to spar on a Tuesday, and he spars four times a week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. So, on Tuesday I said I’m ready to spar. They said you’re not sparring today. So I said, Why am I not? Why did you call me to come this early if I’m not sparring,” said Itauma.

He continued: “Oh man, mistake. I sparred every single day until I left.”

Itauma was then asked if he felt Fury was teaching him a lesson, he said: “Yeah, basically, (about) not piping up!”

Heavyweight division

The heavyweight division continues to attract the most eyes in boxing and Itauma considered the future of the division will be back in action on July 19, fighting on the undercard of the Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois undisputed showdown.

Whether we see Fury fight again remains to be seen, but his legacy is firmly cemented in boxing through his achievements inside and outside the ring.
