Israil Madrimov and Magomed Kurbanov Seek 154 Gold
After some initial issues, Israil Madrimov (9-0-1, 6 KOs) and Magomed Kurbanov (25-0, 13 KOs) can now look towards their world title fight.
The two fighters clash for the vacant WBA super welterweight at the Kingdom Arena. This bout will be part of “Knockout Chaos,” a March 8 card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that is part of Riyadh Season, a state-funded entertainment and sports festival. Fight fans can catch the action live on DAZN PPV around the world as well as Sky Sports PPV in the UK.
Big Fight Weekend previously wrote on the problems facing Madrimov-Kurbanov. Both men did not take part in the initial fight week activities as a result. With those issues now in the past, the super welterweights were present to deliver statements at a press conference. Below is what they said.
Israil Madrimov and Magomed Kurbanov Clash for World Title
Madrimov
“I am ready, In Sha Allah,” said Madrimov. “Let’s go!”
“Potential in this is very interesting for me,” said Madrimov through an interpreter when asked about a potential fight against Terence Crawford. “But, let’s be focused on [this] fight. Let’s see in the future.”
Kurbanov
“All my life I’ve been fighting in home [sic],” said Kurbanov via an interpreter. “But, for me, home is everywhere where’s a ring. I was waiting for this chance for 16 years, so I’m gonna use it.”

“As usual, as I have done 25 fights before,” said the Russian on how he plans to beat Madrimov.
Big Fight Weekend Prediction
Kurbanov is the more experienced fighter of the two in the professional ranks. He also has a slight height advantage over his opponent. However, the Russian has been on the receiving end of some generous scoring against his best opposition. Wins over Michel Soro and Liam Smith left some believing that Kurbanov was lucky to have his hand raised.

Madrimov’s footwork should give his opponent fits. One thing to look out for is his stamina the longer the fight goes. That being said, Big Fight Weekend feels Madrimov should be able to get a unanimous decision win over Kurbanov. Expect the Uzbek to become the next super welterweight world champion.
