John Ryder Speaks About Munguía
When asked about his feelings about the upcoming fight, Ryder said: “Buzzing to be here. It’s great to be here, involved in another big fight.” He added: “It’s a shot at redemption.“
He went on to mention his gratitude for this opportunity after the loss to Canelo before Dan asked Ryder how he prepares for an opponent like Munguía: “I don’t really train any different.” The Englishman then mentions the introduction of Freddie Roach into his opponents camp and how they are “expecting new things from him.” He added: “Nothing changes. We train hard. We prepare for the hardest battle possible.“

When talking about Munguía’s last fight against Sergiy Derevyanchenko and if this fight is the right time for Ryder after that tough last outing for the Mexican: “Potentially, Derevyanchenko is a world level fighter, tough man, and Jaime Munguía pulled it out the bag in the last round by dropping him and edged it in his favour.” Ryder went on to say about his Mexican opponent: “He’s dangerous throughout. You got to give him the top respect.”

Loss to Canelo
Speaking about the loss to Canelo and how he battled through that fight, he said: “It was tough, but my nose broke in the 2nd round. Felt sorry for myself for a few rounds after that, got dropped, bit down, and come out swinging.“
“It was great to put it all on the line against Canelo Alvarez, and I’m willing to do the same against Jaime Munguía.“

He agreed with Rafael’s observation that his fight and performance against Canelo helped him move on to this fight against Munguía. Ryder went on to explain the controversial loss to Callum Smith was tough to take, but he’s over it now. He then described Beterbiev as “sensational” in his win against Smith.
When asked about the fight, Ryder said: “I think the fans are in for a treat.”
