On July 19 at Wembley Stadium, Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) defeated Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) by fifth-round KO. This victory further cemented the Ukranian’s legacy, who became the undisputed heavyweight champion for the second time. Legendary podcast host and UFC commentator Joe Rogan recently reflected on Usyk’s brilliance during episode #168 of the JRE MMA Show, where Khalil Rountree Jr was his guest.

Joe Rogan Breaks Down Oleksandr Usyk’s Greatness

Rogan Praises Usyk

Discussing Usyk on his MMA show, Rogan said: “He is an animal. He is so ******* good… Just look at what this man has done; he beat Anthony Joshua twice, he beat Tyson Fury twice and now Dubois for the second time as well. It is crazy, these are the best heavyweights of this era. I think he is one of the best heavyweights of all time.”

Praising the Ukrainians movement, “His movement is different… ‘AJ’ said he’s never been as exhausted as he was when he fought him, because he’s always moving, there’s no rest with him. You’re constantly tense and thinking about where the next punch is going to come from. There’s never a moment of relaxation,” said Rogan.

Oleksandr Usyk Compared to Vasiliy Lomachenko

The praise didn’t end there, with Rogan comparing Usyk to fellow Ukrainian Vasiliy Lomachenko: “I’ve always said he’s like a giant Lomachenko, they were both trained by Lomachenko’s father. In the footage of the finishing combination he hit Daniel, you can see his step to the side, and then that hellish left hook… God, how well he executed it.”
