Jake Paul vs Joshua – British heavyweight analyses fight and offers to spar Paul
It’s actually happening! Confirming a report by Mike Coppinger at The Ring Magazine, Most Valuable Promotions announced Jake Paul vs Joshua for December 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

Following the announcement, the boxing world has been stunned, with many talking about the intrigue, while others have lambasted the fight. Ahead of December 19, British heavyweight Lawrence Okolie has spoken to Boxing Social, offering to spar Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs), while sharing how the fight could play out.
Jake Paul vs Joshua set for December 19
Jake Paul vs Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) has captivated the boxing world, with both positive and negative reactions. Anthony Joshua is a former two-time unified heavyweight champion, and it remains to be seen what the Brit has left.
Many speculated whether this would be an approved heavyweight fight or an exhibition. As it’s listed as a sanctioned heavyweight bout, it’s important to take note of the rules, which are as follows:
- The fight is scheduled for eight 3-minute rounds.
- It is a sanctioned professional bout, unlike the Davis exhibition.
- Paul and Joshua will wear 10-ounce gloves.
- The only stipulation is that Joshua cannot weigh more than 245 pounds.
Lawrence Okolie offers to spar Jake Paul and breaks down Joshua clash
When asked about the Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua confirmation, Okolie said:
“Hats off to both of them for getting very well paid.”
“I do wanna go in and work with Jake Paul in preparation for this fight and preparation for mine. I need to know what he sees that makes him think this is a good idea. That’s one I’m ready to know. And then, I want him to feel what it’s like to be in there with a big, strong, world-class heavyweight before the day, because I don’t want him to get hit with the first jab, and it’s a whole new sensation.
“And you never know, I think there’s some game plans that could cause a bit of trouble. But there’s three I see. One of which is, bear in mind, AJ is not an I’m gonna come out and get this over in one round type of guy. He does do it, don’t get me wrong, but that’s based off of other people’s work.
“So when you see AJ vs Ngannou, Ngannou and him were having a fight before AJ started landing the great right hands off of Ngannou going southpaw. I don’t think AJ’s first instinct is to go in and go double jab, uppercut, left hook to the body, and rip into people. He likes to box. He’s a natural boxer, so I think he’s gonna be just going through stuff. He hasn’t been in the ring for over a year. He’s gonna be popping jabs, slipping, showing a bit of skill.”
Okolie outlines one possible game plan for Jake Paul vs Joshua
Looking ahead to Jake Paul vs Joshua, Okolie said:
“I think if you’re Jake, you do that with him, and then when you throw your hard shot , you do it once. You get one chance; you do it once in a fight. You give it absolutely everything you have and hope that something happens. Cause if nothing happens, it’s a hard night for you, I’ll be honest with you. But if you land it and get a moment, anything can happen. That’s one of the three game plans I see.”
