Jacobs Edges Rosado in A Razor Thin Snoozer
Jacobs Edges Rosado in A Razor Thin Snoozer
The main event Friday night from the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida, was a rivalry that ended with Daniel Jacobs defeating Gabe Rosado in a contest that was an absolute snoozefest.
The final scorecards for this were 115-113 Rosado and 115-113 x 2 Jacobs in favor of, but anyone who had to sit thru twelve rounds of this is the real winner of this one. So much so that even the ring announcer incorrectly said that Rosado had won the fight beforehand Steve Harvey style.
The First few opening rounds of this were tactical ones, with neither fighter really pressing the issue. What kept the fight at a standstill despite the lack of action was that the output for both wasn’t there. The action in this one wasn’t there in this one, so much so, that this fight rivaled Robert Easter’s split draw against Rances Barthelemy
At one point in the first five rounds, the total landed punches by both fighters was under 50. Needless to say, this was the least eventful main event contest that will go down this year.

That punch total by the eight-round “picked up” to 42 apiece. Really disappointing because the pre-fight buildup for this was that these two hated each other stemming for years. That smack talk didn’t carry over into action into the ring.
That tactical contest continued through all thirty-six minutes of this one. Jacobs came into this fight. Neither fighter landed double digits punches until Rosado did in Round 8.
Jacobs hinted that he wants to become a two-time champion and get a potential shot at unbeaten WBO Super Middleweight Champ, Billy Joe Saunders. But, this performance isn’t going to have anyone clamoring for anything more than their time back. To Jacobs’s credit, he apologized for the fight in his post fight interview.
