George Kambosos Vows Haney Rematch Will Be Different
Coming up Sunday afternoon in Melbourne, Australia, it’s rematch time for the undisputed lightweight title. This, as champ Devin Haney of California looks to repeat his mastery of former champ and home country favorite George Kambosos in a scheduled 12 rounder.
And, midday Saturday they were on the scales and also exchanging glares and shoves for the cameras and those on-looking,

Kambosos (20-1, 10 KOs)Â had his WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO taken off him, when Haney used his superior skill and hand speed to dominate him in a 12 round decision back in June.
Now, everyone is wondering whether anything will be different in their rematch?
Kambosos had a response at the final press conference on Thursday for those doubting that his efforts will make for a different result in the Rod Laver Arena,
“The changes have been made. You learn from your losses. You come back a better fighter. So, I’ve made my changes. I’ve looked at certain things. I’ve gone back to my roots as well. We’re just focused. I’m not going to give anything away. I’m just zoned in. Sunday is when I’ll do my talking. We’ll see who laughs last.”

“He’s got a fantastic jab,” Kambosos added. “But we have put in fantastic work to not only evade his jab, but whatever he tries to bring. It doesn’t matter. Did I let him jab too much? He’s got a great jab. But that’s why boxing is the sweet science.”
That jab will be a big key and how Kambosos handles it, or doesn’t, will go a long way to determining if he has has a chance to regain his championships. And, while he has 10 KOs, Kambosos doesn’t pack a big punch. He doesn’t have a knockout or stoppage in four of his previous five wins.
As for the unbeaten 28-0, 15 KOs, Haney, he’s in prime position to not only win again, but also score a much bigger fight/payday against former unified champ Vasiliy Lomachenko in his next bout. Still, he had the right answers ready on Thursday to the media,
“There are a lot of big fights out there to be made. I’ve been calling out Loma for a while. But my main focus is on getting past George Kambosos. Then we can talk about what’s next.”
Now, we’re about to find out how much may or may not be different in the rematch Sunday?
