Fox Sports and PBC make upcoming fights official

Saturday night during the post-Covid 19 resumption of PBC on Fox broadcasts, the network and the promotion announced officially their future fight cards involving Shawn Porter in two weeks and unified World Welterweight champion, Errol Spence, with a November Pay-per view.

First, Porter, 30-3-1, 17 KOs, is the former WBC Welterweight Champion who lost his belt last September to Spence in a hotly-contested 12-round decision. He will be fighting against German Sebastian Formella on August 22nd.. Porter appears to be in position for a potential rematch with Spence in the first part of next year, if he is impressive against the unbeaten (22-0, 10 KOs), young, but largely untested German:

From the Fox Sports statement,

“The PBC back on FOX Sports is what we’ve all been working towards,” said Bill Wanger, Executive Vice President, Head of Programming and Scheduling, FOX Sports. “We’re looking forward to showcasing some of the top boxers in the sport on FOX, FS1, FOX Deportes and PPV throughout the rest of the year.”

Fox and PBC also confirmed that November 21st will be the date for the Spence-Danny Garcia WBC/IBF World Welterweight showdown, as Spence puts his unbeaten 26 – 0 record on the line against former Junior Welterweight Unified champ Garcia. This will be Spence’s his first fight since the win over Porter, and more importantly, since his horrific one car crash in the middle of the night in October in Dallas, Texas. Spence suffered a fractured jaw and a concussion in the accident, but he has fully recovered.

Spence also previously defeated former Undisputed Lightweight champion Mikey Garcia in a March Fox Pay-per-view last year. Garcia has unsuccessfully challenged for a version of the Welterweight Title losing decisions to both Porter and previously, to Keith Thurman.

FOX also announced that’s former Super Welterweight Champion Erislandy Lara will take on Greg Vendetti for the WBA 168 lb. belt on Saturday night August 29th. The co-feature that night will have veteran Super Middleweights Alfredo Angulo and Caleb Truax in a title eliminator with the winner likely facing the winner of Lara – Vendetti.

Fox will also be back Labor Day weekend on Sunday night September 6th. That’s when Cuban-born Welterweight contender Yordenis Ugas will battle Abel Ramos in the feature fight. Ugas is also looking to get in the Welterweight world title picture along with Porter and Thurman.
