Carl Froch predicts knockout finish in Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois showdown

On May 9, Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois headlines a Queensberry Promotions fight card at the Co-op Live in Manchester, live on DAZN for Wardley’s WBO world heavyweight title. This showdown has been aptly dubbed “don’t blink.” 

Ahead of this intriguing all-British clash, Carl Froch has spoken to NewBettingSites, revealing his knockout prediction for the bout.

Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) has enjoyed a meteoric rise in professional boxing from his limited white-collar background, through to stopping Frazer Clarke, Justis Huni and Joseph Parker on his way to becoming the WBO heavyweight champion.

Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) has been criticised in the past for his apparent lack of heart, but those critics were answered in style with wins over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua. A second defeat to the mercurial Oleksandr Usyk has brought the detractors out again, but a win against Wardley will go a long way to silencing many of his critics.

When Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois was announced, both reacted to the confirmation via a Queensberry press release:

Sending a clear message to his opponent, Dubois said:

“On the 9th May, the world title reign is over for Fabio, and I will become champion again. Let’s go.”

“Daniel Dubois wins the fight by a knockout. I wouldn’t be surprised if Wardley, who’s got a big punch, who’s never been beaten, wins, but I just think that the power and the experience at world level of Dubois will be too much. Look what he did to AJ. And he’s been in there with Usyk as well, so he’s learned a lot from those fights. I feel like Fabio Wardley doesn’t belong in the ring at that level, but he’s proved us wrong time and time again,” said Froch.
