Eddie Hearn Clarifies Timeline for Anthony Joshua’s Comeback
Eddie Hearn Clarifies Timeline for Anthony Joshua’s Comeback
Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) was last seen in the ring on September 21, (22-2, 21 KOs) at Wembley Stadium, where he was brutally knocked out by Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs). AJ’s return has been speculated on since that defeat, with a rematch with Dubois, a super fight with Tyson Fury and even a bout with Jake Paul mentioned. Eddie Hearn has now spoken to “The Stomping Ground” and revealed the latest on Joshua’s return.
Anthony Joshua: Eddie Hearn Provides Update on Injury Recovery
Eddie Hearn Talks Joshua Rumours
Following his second loss to Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua won four fights in a row, including his more impressive recent wins against Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou. AJ went into the Dubois matchup in resurgent form but was ultimately dominated by “Dynamite” who bossed the fight from the first bell.
Rumours have surfaced that Joshua’s injury is a smokescreen for him to wait for the Fury mega-fight, and when asked about this on “The Stomping Ground” Hearn was forthright in his response: “No, not at all, we’re not going to just make up an injury. Basically, if we were waiting, we just go ‘we’re not going to fight at the moment’ and we’ll just see what happens,” Hearn said.
Anthony Joshua Return Timeline
Giving an update on Joshua returning to full training and the hopes for a Fury fight, Hearn said: “He went back to the gym, and he’s not able to punch as he would like to be, and he’s got five weeks left now until he can punch properly.
“We’re not waiting for Tyson Fury, if that opportunity jumps up in the meantime, fantastic, if not we’ll just get fit, get ready and decide who we’re going to fight.”
What does the future hold for Anthony Joshua? Will we finally see the Tyson Fury mega-fight, or will it be a rematch against Dubois or Parker? Whatever comes next, if AJ returns, it seems he will only be in big fights.
