‘He shouldn’t be fighting’: Carl Froch weighs in on Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder
Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder headlines a Misfits Pro card in association with Queensberry Promotions at the O2 Arena in London on April 4. The entire card will stream live on DAZN.
Ahead of this intriguing heavyweight slobberknocker, former super middleweight world champion Carl Froch has spoken to NewBettingSites, revealing his pick for April 4.
Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder set for London showdown
Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) was once regarded by many to be the most feared heavyweight on the planet. His taxing trilogy with Tyson Fury appeared to take a lot from both fighters, with Wilder being largely inactive since. In more recent years, “The Bronze Bomber” suffered back-to-back defeats against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, before stopping Tyrrell Herndon in the seventh round.
Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) is loved by many British fight fans due to his come-forward, fan-friendly fight style. He has fought many of the best fighters, including Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk and Vitali Klitschko.
Carl Froch has his say on Chisora vs Wilder
Chisora-Wilder is the fiftieth fight for both, with Wilder seemingly determined to move on to bigger fights after Chisora. “Del Boy,” on the other hand, is adamant that this will be fifty and out for him.
Speaking to NewBettingSites, Froch gave his prediction for the fight, and didn’t hold back:
“Worst-case scenario, Chisora wins it on points. I can also see how he stops Wilder. Just based on, I’ve seen Wilder against Zhang, and against Parker, he looks finished. Looks like he’s a spent force. But it’s an exciting fight, and it’s a good fight for Chisora, because Deontay Wilder’s Deontay Wilder. He’s got a great reputation. He’s got a massive punch, and they always tell you that’s the last thing to go, but he can’t shape up properly now.
“He’s awkward on his feet. He doesn’t generate power anymore for me. He’s not a big puncher anymore. Because he shouldn’t be fighting, he’s had a spiritual awakening and then getting in there and carrying on fighting, it’s not ideal. Deontay Wilder doesn’t look like he can take any pressure at all.”
