Deontay Wilder fires warning at Derek Chisora and the heavyweight division
Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora headlines a Misfits Pro card in association with Queensberry Promotions at the O2 Arena in London on April 4.
Ahead of their showdown in London, Wilder and Chisora met in Times Square, New York City, where they came face-to-face, with Wilder firing a warning at “Del Boy,” while taking aim at the rest of the heavyweight division.
Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora set for April 4 in London
Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) was once one of the most feared fighters on the planet, before his taxing trilogy with Tyson Fury. Inactivity since then was followed by back-to-back defeats against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang. He returned to the ring this past June, stopping Tyrrell Herndon in the seventh round.
Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) is adored by the British public with his relentless style and willingness to fight anyone. He has suffered brave defeats against Oleksandr Usyk and Vitali Klitschko. In recent times, he has defeated Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin to reignite his career.
Wilder fires warning at Chisora and heavyweight division
Wilder’s right hand struck fear into the heavyweight division for many years, and despite the defeats in recent years, it appears “The Bronze Bomber” is feeling confident and eager to send a message to the rest of the heavyweight division.
“This is more than just a comeback — this is a warning shot to the entire heavyweight division,” said Wilder. “I respect Chisora. He’s tough, he’s gritty, but on April 4, I remind the world why I’m still the most dangerous man in boxing,” added Wilder.
It’s a difficult fight to predict. A lot depends on what each fighter has left. If this fight were made 5-6 years ago, it’s difficult to look past Wilder winning by KO. But his recent years of inactivity and defeats, and Chisora’s recent resurgence, arguably make “Del Boy” the favourite for April 4.
