Conor Benn offered world title shot after Chris Eubank Jr rematch
On November 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) will once again face Chris Eubank Jr (35-3, 23 KOs) in an event dubbed “Unfinished Business.”
This rematch follows their first fight, which took place on April 26 at the same venue. The fight will again be contested at middleweight, and despite this bout coming up, Abass Baraou, the new WBA super-welterweight world champion, has spoken to Sky Sports and welcomed a future clash with Conor Benn.
Despite the rematch with Eubank coming up, Benn has been offered the opportunity to fight for a world title.
With Benn operating at middleweight for a second straight fight, it’s difficult to see him dropping back down to 147lbs, a limit he hasn’t made since 2022.
Abass Baraou scored an upset win over Yoenis Tellez on August 23 to win the WBA title, and the new champion has welcomed a clash with Benn for his 154lbs title.
“Conor Benn is around 154lbs. He’s a big name in the UK, I’d love to fight in the UK. The fans are amazing. Coming in the UK, having a big fight like that, why not? I’m ready for it,” Baraou told Sky Sports. “Here in the UK, having a show like that is one of the dreams.
“He’s a great fighter, he’s explosive. Fights with a lot of emotions. I know obviously my skill and I see myself dominating him and teaching him a little bit of something.”
